Welcome to the Bio-Acoustics Team Page!

The Bio-Acoustics Team uses advanced sound recording systems, such as parabolic dishes, shotgun microphones, and Soundcaches (see pictures below), to record various sounds within the community. We then use a software program called RAVEN Lite to convert the sound recordings into sound spectrograms. We use these spectrograms to analyze the sounds that we have captured. We also create information pages to explain each of the recorded sounds and display these files in our RAVEN Exhibit. If you have not yet visited our RAVEN Exhibit, please visit Rye Junior High School and check it out - it's really fun! The Bio-Acoustics Team also conducts a variety of scientific investigations using sound; these research projects are also displayed in the RAVEN Exhibit!
